Edward Craft, Senior Lifestyle Director at The Landing at Augusta Woods

Edward Craft is an award-winning Activity Professional, with a career spanning over twenty years in service to elderly adults. At the age of 15 years old, Edward was forced to play his saxophone with his dad and church choir around Spring during the holiday season. After playing “Jingle Bells,” on his saxophone, one of the residents at the assisted living community they were performing at said a curse word immediately after, which delighted teenage Edward. Together, they joyfully exchanged all the bad words they knew! As they were leaving, the staff informed Edward and the church that the woman he was talking to has dementia and that was the most they have seen her speak since she had moved in a year prior. From that moment forward, Edward committed his life in service to older adults.

In 2015, Edward received the Argentum Hero Award and the Argentum “Best of the Best” Award; both national awards. That same year, he also received the Texas Assisted Living Association’s Hero Award and was featured in Senior Living Magazine.

Recently, Edward served on the board of one of the United Way of Greater Houston’s Interagency Networks, the Elder Service Providers Network (acting as Secretary and later Chair); serves as an advisor for Great Age Movement (a nonprofit organization that aims to keep seniors active); created Houston’s first Dementia Friendly Church Service as well as holidays like Old People Are Cool Day in Houston, TX; was an ambassador for Bridge the Gap, a senior living podcast; named an Honored Listee for the 2024 edition of Who’s Who; and is a nominee for Houston’s Business Journal’s 40 Under 40!
