Cole Smith serves as the Corporate Director of Resident Care and Cognitive Wellness at Brightview Senior Living, where he leads dementia care strategy across a multi-state portfolio and supports teams in creating environments rooted in dignity, connection, and possibility. With nearly 20 years of experience across hospital systems, skilled nursing, hospice, and senior living, his work is grounded in a deep belief that how we care for those living with dementia—and how we support those who care for them—matters profoundly.
Michelle Godfrey, Senior Wellspring Village Director at Brightview Senior Living
Michelle has been a nurse for over 15 years caring for both young and senior patients. Her compassion and technical abilities were evident early on in her career as she received the Best Bedside Manner and Excellence in Caring for the Elderly awards while in nursing school. Michelle transitioned to caring for residents with dementia when she worked at Copper Ridge. While there, Michelle worked alongside a neuropsychiatrist who was seeing patients for a study with NIH trying to determine the cause of Alzheimer’s Disease. At Copper Ridge, Michelle learned different techniques that work with residents based on their specific type of dementia. She joined Brightview in 2019 as a Wellness Nurse and since early 2023 has served as Wellspring Village Director. She has a passion for not only providing exceptional care, but also bringing joy to our residents and families despite their diagnosis of dementia.

Daniel Lawson, Co-Founder and President of Business Affairs at Viking Pure Solutions
Daniel Lawson spent over a decade in the medical device industry, earning unparalleled insight into the intricacies of our health care environment and some of the biggest needs yet to be addressed. Daniel partnered with Viking Pure’s co-executive team to introduce a disruptive, patent protected, and environmentally-conscious technology to transform cleaning and infection control in commercial facilities across a wide range of industries. He is dedicated to creating a movement to remove TOXIC CHEMICALS from the environment and to challenge the status-quo of what it means to truly clean and disinfect safely, sustainably and effectively.
Courtney is a gerontologist and Regional Director of Care and Cognitive Wellness at Brightview Senior Living, supporting communities across Maryland. With over a decade of experience, including leadership at a nationally recognized Johns Hopkins–affiliated neurocognitive care community, she brings deep expertise in dementia care. Courtney is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and holds multiple advanced certifications. She is known for her strengths in empathy, coaching, and operational excellence, and for mentoring leaders and driving exceptional outcomes for residents and families.
